About

Hi, I’m Joanna, welcome to my blog!  I’m so glad you’re here. First, a little bit about me and then a little bit about the blog.

About me:

I live and work and dream big in Washington, DC and I’m originally from southeastern PA. I’m a hopeless romantic and eternal optimist.  I’m a complete sap and tear up pretty regularly.  I’m also a very emotional person and feel things, especially life changes, very deeply. I love cooking, yoga, and working out. I love to read books about personal development (i.e. self help books). I enjoy learning and writing too. I’m the oldest of five and love spending time with family and friends.

On May 28, 2011, I married my best friend and high school sweetheart, Mike.

About things after the rings

We read and watch so much about weddings, wedding planning, honeymoons, and everything that goes into each decision and detail.  But that’s where it ends.  We don’t really hear about what comes next, the happiness and love between a newlywed couple and the changes, both logistical and emotional, that happen after a wedding. Because the wedding is not the fairy tale ending it’s portrayed to be.  It’s only just the beginning.

I started things after the rings in an effort to live in the moment in my new married life, to remember this time, to explore different emotions i felt after my wedding, and to share stories and lessons learned.

things after the rings highlights my new married life: issues that arise, funny stories, ways we work together, and just what we’re up to.  Because I’m still very much me in my marriage, things after the rings will be a lot about me: my thoughts on life, what I’m doing, thinking, feeling, loving, how i’m finding my way and figuring out what I want my life to be.  I’ll share a little bit of my experience here in hopes that it provides inspiration or a laugh.

Thanks for stopping by! Come back soon!

Joanna,
I love your blog and your romantic, optimistic outlook. I have been married for 34 years and it has been a process to learn to live in the moment. You are learning how to live in the moment and sharing with others so they too can live the magic of now and consciously shape the road ahead.

Good luck in all you do. You are an inspiration to those who want to dream big dreams and live them!
Jane
